What is Sincalide injection?

Sincalide is a drug that acts like a hormone that the body makes. It is used in tests to check how well the pancreas and gallbladder are working. It is also used to hurry barium out of the body.

What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
• gallstones
• liver disease
• irregular bowel movements
• an unusual reaction to sincalide, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• breast-feeding

How should this medicine be used?

This medicine is for injection into a vein or muscle. It is given by a health care provider in a hospital or clinic.

Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

What if I miss a dose?

This does not apply.

What drug(s) may interact with Sincalide?

• food
• some medicines for pain like morphine

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. You will be monitored closely during your procedure. Follow all instructions carefully.

What side effects may I notice from receiving Sincalide?

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
• allergic reactions like skin rash or itching, hives, swelling of the lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
• change in blood pressure
• dizziness
• trouble breathing

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
• diarrhea
• feeling flush, sweating
• headache
• nausea
• stomach cramping, pain

Where can I keep my medicine?

Keep out of the reach of children.

You will not be asked to store this medicine. It is used in a hospital or clinic only.
