What is Sinecatechins ointment?

SINECATECHINS ointment is used to treat external genital or anal warts. Because this medicine does not cure genital or anal warts, new warts may appear during or after treatment.

What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
• immune system problems
• an unusual reaction to sinecatechins, green tea, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• breast-feeding

How should this medicine be used?

Follow the directions on your prescription label. Wash hands before and after applying this medicine. Using a fingertip, apply a small amount of ointment to each wart. Make sure that each wart is completely covered leaving a thin layer of ointment on top. Avoid contact with lips, eyes, or nose. Do not apply this medicine inside the vagina or rectum. Do not apply this medicine onto open wounds or sores. Do not bandage or wrap the treated area. Do not wash the ointment off before the next application. Anytime the treatment area is washed, apply the ointment again afterwards. Finish the full course prescribed by your doctor or health care professional even if you think your condition is better. Do not stop using except on the advice of your doctor or health care professional.

For females using tampons, insert the tampon before applying ointment. Uncircumcised males treating warts under the foreskin should pull back the foreskin and clean the area daily.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

What drug(s) may interact with Sinecatechins?

Interactions are not expected.
Do not use any other skin products without telling your doctor or health care professional.

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

What should I watch for while taking Sinecatechins Ointment?

Visit your health care professional for regular checks on your progress. Females should receive regular pelvic exams as recommended by their doctors.

You will notice improvement in your condition gradually. It may take up to 16 weeks to see a full clearing of the warts.

This medicine may stain lightly colored clothing or bedding.

Do not expose the treated area to sunlight, sunlamps, or tanning beds.

This medicine will not cure genital or anal warts. It is also not known if this medicine can stop you from spreading genital or anal warts to other people. The only way to prevent infecting others is to avoid direct skin-to-skin contact. If warts are visible in the genital area, sexual contact should be avoided until the warts are treated. Experts advise that using latex condoms during sexual contact may reduce, but not entirely prevent, infecting others.

Sexual (genital, anal, and oral) contact should be avoided while the ointment is on the skin.

Do not rely on condoms, diaphragms, cervical caps or other 'barrier' devices as your sole method of birth control. This medicine may weaken these devices and make them less effective.

What side effects may I notice from receiving Sinecatechins?

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
• open sores with or without drainage
• pain when urinating
• pelvic pain
• skin infection
• skin rash
• unusual or severe skin reaction

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
• burning or itching around the treatment site
• changes in skin color
• pain around the treatment site
• redness of the skin
• swelling of the skin

Where can I keep my medicine?

Keep out of the reach of children.

Store at room temperature below 25 degrees C (77 degrees F) or in the refrigerator. Do not freeze. Keep the cap on the tube tightly closed. Throw away any unused portion after the expiration date.
