single-hub cartridge

A tape cartridge that uses only one spindle and reel. The tape is pulled out of the cartridge and attached to a takeup reel inside the drive. Contrast with cassette.

Single-hub Cartridges
DLT, Magstar and SAIT all use half-inch, single-hub cartridges in which the tape is fed onto a takeup reel inside the drive. While DLT/SDLT and Magstar use linear recording, SAIT uses helical scan.
