Plot

Debuting November 19, 1992, the BBC1 sitcom Sitting Pretty concerned the fabulously wealthy Annie Briggs (Diane Bull), otherwise known as "the Jackie O of Bethnal Green." When her husband Boris died, leaving her nothing but debts, the impoverished but still haughty Annie moved into a dismal flat with her daughter Tiffany (Alison Lomas). Eventually even this residence proved too costly, forcing Annie and Tiffany to take residence in Sunnyside Farm, a tumbledown domicile owned by Annie's parents. The heroine was obliged to share her quarters with her dowdy, ill-tempered twin sister Sylvie (Heather Tobias), who had always resented Annie's once-lavish lifestyle and took every opportunity to twist the knife now that she and Annie were on equal terms.
