Skidding (1928), a comedy by Aurania Rouverol. [Bijou Theatre, 448 perf.] Marion Hardy (Marguerite Churchill) decides to break off her engagement and begin a political career by helping her father, Judge Hardy (Carleton Macy), in his own campaign. The campaign is a success, but so is Judge Hardy when he makes Marion realize she will be happy in marriage as well. Largely dismissed by the critics, the comedy far outran many better plays in an excellent season. It served as the basis for the Andy Hardy movies so long popular in Hollywood.
