J. Majik's uncanny ability to grab elements of recognizable jungle styles and drag them kicking and screaming into new, undefined areas appears in droves on this debut full-length. Although, like his more recent Infra-Red releases, much of Slow Motion dabbles in the shadowy dungeons of tech-step, the effect is more the cyborgian dystopia of Blade Runner or William Gibson than the dopey dirge-and-bass normally found dwelling in darkness. About half the material here is previously unavailable, making Slow Motion a nice catch-up course as well as being a vehicle for Majik's emerging, mature sound. Additionally, the latter third of the album features the dreamy downtempo material Majik released on the Mo'Wax label under the name Innervisions. ~ Sean Cooper, All Music Guide
