A method of efficient debt repayment where the debt holder initially uses funds devoted for debt repayment toward paying the minimum payment of all other debts. After which, any remaining funds from the debt repayment budget are spent on an additional payment to the debt bearing the highest interest rate. Once the highest interest-bearing debt is completely paid for, the subsequent debt repayments go toward the next highest interest bearing debt until all the debts are paid off.

Investopedia Says:
For example, let's say an individual decides to spent $500 every month on retiring his three sources of debt (each with a minimum payment of $50): $1,000 worth of credit-card debt (annual rate of 20% interest), $1,250 of car payments (annual rate of 6% interest) and a $5,000 line of credit (annual rate of 8%).

If he decides to use the snowball method of debt repayment, he will spend $150 on paying each debt's minimum payment. The remaining $350 will be spent on payments toward the highest interest rate bearing debt, in this case, the credit-card debt. Once the credit-card debt has been completely paid for, the extra payment will go toward retiring the second highest interest-bearing debt (the line of credit), and then finally the car loan (with the smallest interest).

A snowball is a spherical object made from snow, usually created by scooping snow with the hands, and compacting it into a roughly fist-sized ball. The snowball is often used to engage in games, such as snowball fights. Snowball fights are usually light-hearted and involve throwing snowballs at one's friends or family. The pressure exerted by the hands on the snow is a determinant for the final result. Reduced pressure leads to a light and soft snowball. A higher pressure causes the snow to melt, turning into liquid water. Once the pressure is removed, the water turns again into ice, leading to a more compact and hard snowball called an iceball, which eventually can be considered harmful during a snowball fight. The process of melting and refreezing is called regelation.

A snowball may also be a large ball of snow formed by rolling a smaller snowball on a snow-covered surface. The smaller snowball grows by picking up additional snow as it rolls. The terms "snowball effect" and "snowballing" are named after this process. This technique is often used to create snowmen.

There are some temperature/humidity ranges that prohibit or restrict the formulation of a snowball. With a powdery snow, snowballs are difficult to form. If you're walking on snow and it squeaks, chances are the temperature/humidity level won't form a snowball.

Current world record

Students of Michigan Technological University rolled the world's largest snowball on February 10, 2006.[1] It was 21 feet 3 inches in circumference (81 inches or 2.06 metres in diameter).[1]

Heraldry

The snowball occasionally occurs as a charge in heraldry.
