| Anemone sylvestris L. |
Anemone sylvestris is a herbaceous perennial flowering plant found in dry deciduous woodlands of Central and Western Europe. It prefers soils with a high nutrient content. It flowers in early spring, often before the trees get their leaves. The plant forms thick stands on the forest floor.
The most commonly used vernacular name is Snowdrop Windflower, but it is also sometimes called Wood Anemone, a name that more commonly refers to the related Anemone nemorosa.
