SILIC may be the name of a 1999 Breeders' Cup winner, but it's also short for Société Immobilière de Location pour I'Industrie et le Commerce, a company that owns and manages more than 1 million sq. meters of commercial space in Paris and the surrounding region. Its portfolio is comprised of approximately equal parts office buildings and mixed-use properties. Its office parks are located in such business areas as La Défense and the Orly airport region. Through its SOCOMIE subsidiary, SILIC offers property management, marketing, and development services. SILIC adopted the Sociétés d'Investissements Immobiliers Cotées (SIIC) tax vehicle in 2003. Financial services firm Groupama owns 41% of SILIC.
