The Society for Risk Analysis is an interdisciplinary scientific society focusing on the assessment, management, and communication of risks to human health, safety, and the environment. The society was founded in 1981, and its international membership includes social and behavioral scientists, engineers, biologists, chemists, ecologists, mathematicians, decision scientists, economists, policy analysts, and attorneys. The society is committed to research and education in risk-related fields and has helped develop the field of risk analysis and improve its credibility, viability, and utility.
The major aims of society are to foster and promote the knowledge and understanding of risk analysis and its applications; the exploration of policy, social, and economic implications of human health and environmental risk issues; the advancement of new methods and technologies in the practice of risk analysis, and the provision of professional advice to policymakers regarding riskrelated problems.
