Biography

Best known as the nasal, staccato voice of '90s Latino hemp-hoppers Funkdoobiest, Puerto Rican MC Son Doobie (born Jason Vasquez) has established himself outside of his former group as not only a rapper, but as a radio personality and , uh, an adult film actor. Although not the only rap star to pursue an interest in porn -- Snoop Dogg has as well -- he was most likely the first, a distinction sure to pepper future hip hop trivia forevermore. Musically, Son has stayed active as a part of Latino rap supergroup the Serial Rhyme Killers with Mellow Man Ace and Cypress Hill's B-Real. Along with Swollen Members, Abstract Rude and Buc Fifty, Son has also been active as part of the underground Battle Axe crew. He appeared on Swollen Members Bad Dreams album in 2001, and, after a few singles, released his highly anticipated debut, Funk Superhero, in 2003. ~ Wade Kergan, All Music Guide
