Review

Rajasthan is a region in northwest India that borders on Pakistan. Songs from Rajasthan: The Land of Princes & Gypsies is an overview of the music from that region. Most of the pieces here are vocals, although there are several instrumental pieces, as well. This is a regional folk music, not the Indian classical music many people think of when Indian music is discussed. Besides vocals, various drums, shenai, and sarangi are the main sounds heard, all instruments that have been around for hundreds of years. ~ Sean Westergaard, All Music Guide
