Specialized agencies are autonomous organizations of the United Nations that work with the UN and each other through the Economic and Social Council.[1] Specialized agencies may or may not have been originally created by the United Nations, but they are incorporated into the United Nations System by the United Nations Economic and Social Council acting under Articles 57 and 63 of the United Nations Charter.
As of December 2007, the agencies are:

- UNESCO United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
- WHO World Health Organization
- World Bank Group
- IMF International Monetary Fund
- ICAO International Civil Aviation Organization
- IMO International Maritime Organization
- ITU International Telecommunication Union
- UPU Universal Postal Union
- WMO World Meteorological Organization
- WIPO World Intellectual Property Organization
- IFAD International Fund for Agricultural Development
- UNIDO United Nations Industrial Development Organization
- UNWTO World Tourism Organization
