Review

Another in the increasing amount of patriotic albums released in the wake of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, 101 Strings' Spirit of America features a dozen lush interpretations of anthems and patriotic themes like "America the Beautiful," "God Bless America," "Amazing Grace," and "The Yellow Rose of Texas." Though the ensemble's typically soft approach takes away some of the dazzling, rousing appeal of these pieces, the album's relatively gentle sound gives a soothing, comforting twist to its patriotism. The album also includes the written text of President George W. Bush's September 20, 2001, address to Congress, and a portion of the proceeds benefit the New York Firefighters' 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund, making the album a tasteful and timely tribute to America's spirit. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
