Spyridon (Filiskos) Samaras

(b Corfu, 29 Nov ?1863; d Athens, 7 April 1917). Greek composer. He studied in Athens and with Delibes at the Paris Conservatoire and was the first Greek composer to achieve international recognition, notably with his verismo operas from Flora mirabilis (1886) to Rhea (1908).
