St Bonaventura

Bonaventura, St (c. 1217/21-74) Italian Franciscan theologian, later dubbed Doctor Seraphicus (‘the seraphic doctor’). He is remembered in philosophy as an opponent of the rationalism prevalent in the theology of his time, and an upholder of the necessity of revelation and return to a spiritual union with God.
