St. Gilgen International School is a boarding and day school for students 10–18 years which opened in September 2008. From September 2009 classes for Grades 5-10 will be available, with grades 11 to 12 being added in successive years.
The academic programme will be committed to the framework of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Years Programmes and is actively seeking IBO authorisation.

History
Building of the lakeside campus began in July 2007 and was completed in July 2008.
Location
The school is located in St. Gilgen near Salzburg.
Campus
The school is fully integrated into the lakeside mountain resort village, sharing many of the facilities. The school considers the village to be the school campus. Currently the school has both a boys' and a girls' boarding house, along with the school park with classroom buildings.
Academic courses
Academic courses are taught in English, with German and other languages on offer.
For Middle Years students whose native language is not English intensive English instruction is provided. The schools special points of emphasis are on Film and Media Studies and also Peace and Conflict Studies which are integrated into the curriculum. Special arts projects, music master classes, and performing arts activities are supported.
The school plans to introduce the IB Diploma Program(me) into a new Grade 11 from September 2010 - with most of the current faculty having taught on these courses before coming to St. Gilgen.
There is also a modern Library and Media Centre with a media suite of computers and a growing international collection of books, mainly in English and German. With a reading room on the top floor.
Co-curricular activities
The school has a wide variety of outdoor activities on offer including skiing, various water sports, expeditions, golf and horse-riding. Mother-tongue classes are offered where necessary. The school boasts of offering a wide variety of co-curricular activities. There is also a Summer School programme starting in July/August 2010.
Scholarships
In order to be accessible to a greater variety of children, a linked Foundation awards bursaries and scholarships.
