As one of the country's leading medical care centers, St. Louis is served by more than 50 hospitals, two of which—the Washington University Medical Center and the St. Louis University Hospital—are top-rated teaching facilities. Providing a range of general and specialized services is Barnes-Jewish Hospital; the hospital was ranked 8th among the nation's best hospitals by U.S. News and World Report. St. Louis Children's Hospital was ranked as the 10th best children's hospital in the nation in Child magazine's 2005 rankings.
