The Star Screen Award Best Music Director is chosen by a panel of distinguished judges and the winner is announced in January. Frequent Winners include A.R.Rahman and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (3 times each), Rajesh Roshan and Nadeem-Shravan (2 times each). Nadeem-Shravan(1997-98) and A.R.Rahman(2008-09) have also won the the award twice in a row.
