Starkweather is a hardcore / metal band from Philadelphia that formed in 1989. Although almost totally unknown and unrecognised in mainstream circles, Starkweather is one of the few bands (along with groups like Rorschach and Deadguy) that pioneered the hardcore/metal crossover sound that would later be known as "metalcore". Starkweather first released an LP "Crossbearer" on PA based Harvcore (owned by Edgewise guitarist Vince Spina). Later the record was re-released on CD by Too Damn Hype. Later they released a 12"EP / MCD "Into The Wire" on Edison in 1995.
