Staybridge Suites is an all-suite, residential-style brand of hotels within the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). The brand targets extended-stay and corporate travelers. There are more than 150 Staybridge Suites hotels open in the United States, Britain, Canada, Mexico and Latin America. The chain competes with Residence Inn, Homewood Suites by Hilton, and Hyatt's Summerfield Suites in the upscale segment of the extended-stay lodging market.

Characteristics

Staybridge Suites hotels feature residential-style surroundings and services, including their "Great Room" lobby. Properties in the franchise are entirely apartment-style suites with kitchens. Amenities offered by Staybridge Suites include complimentary hot breakfast, evening receptions, fitness centers and recreational activities. The chain was also one of the first in the industry to provide complimentary wireless internet access throughout the hotel.[1]

History

The first Staybridge Suites opened in Alpharetta, Georgia, U.S. in 1998. In 2004, Staybridge Suites reached 75 hotels with addition of Eatontown, New Jersey. The brand reached this point of significant mass faster than its competitors.[2] The brand currently has 17,899 rooms, 164 hotels, and another 140 hotels in the pipeline.[3]

Awards

In August 2009, Staybridge Suites was ranked highest in the extended-stay segment according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Hotel Guest Satisfaction Study.[4] In July 2009, Staybridge Suites was named Best in Customer Satisfaction by Market Metrix, LLC for superiority in customer satisfaction among all upscale hotel brands during the first quarter of 2009.[5]
