Steep Climb

Poker Guide:

Steep Climb

This refers to when a player’s hole cards consist of a King and a Two.

SoundPoker Says: This term is in reference to the second largest mountain in the world, K2. The mountain a difficult to conquer because it is such a "steep climb" up. This is recognized as a hard hand to win a pot with.

Unsuited, this is a weak hand because in situations where the King pairs up, the low ranking two is the worst possible kicker. If suited, the flush draw is optimum because the King will create the second strongest flush hand, only losing to a player holding the nut flush ace.
