[Etymology: J. Stefan; Austria 1835-1893 (see Boltzmann constant)] mechanics The coefficient in the corresponding law that energy is proportional to the fourth power of the thermodynamic temperature, = 5.670 400(40)~ × 10-8 W·m-2·K-4 with relative standard uncertainty 7.0 × 10-6.
