Stephen Darlington

Biography

Stephen Darlington is one of Britain's leading organists and choir conductors. In the early '70s, he studied at Christ Church, Oxford, under Simon Preston. He was assistant organist at Canterbury Cathedral for four years, then was appointed master of the music at St. Albans Abbey, where he also served as artistic director of the St. Albans Organ Festival. Since 1985, Darlington has been director of music at Christ Church, Oxford. He was artist-in-residence at the University of Western Australia in 1993 and has worked as a guest conductor in Sydney, Perth, and Christchurch, New Zealand.
