Stephens Inc. was founded in 1933 by W.R. Witt Stephens. His brother, Jackson T. Stephens joined the firm in 1946 and served as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Stephens Inc. from 1956 to 1986. Since 1986 Warren Stephens, Jack's son, has served as CEO of Stephens Inc. In 1970, Stephens Inc. (along with Wall Street firm White Weld & Co.) brought Wal-Mart public in an IPO.
