Album Review: Storytelling

Review

Multi-instrumentalist Vasconcelos is fascinating -- it's hard to know just what he's going to do from one track to another, or even within a track. There are times when his music is simple and straightforward, and other times when improbable complexities are left lying around the sonic landscape (as in the opening "Cortina"). The music on Storytelling is often sweet and charming, and just as often thoughtful and engaging -- never boring, annoying, or mediocre; it's also impossible to pigeonhole. ~ Steven McDonald, All Music Guide

Storytelling is an album by Belle & Sebastian. It is the score to the Todd Solondz movie Storytelling. Belle & Sebastian experienced many notable problems in communication with Solondz whilst scoring the film, and as such only about six minutes of music by them was actually used in the movie itself. The album contains five tracks that are recorded dialogues.
