The official, platinum-selling compilation for Zurich's 2001 Street Parade has DJ Mind-X priming the pump with an invigorating, albeit hackneyed, mix of bruised European trance. Interestingly voted best DJ in his home country in 1999 and 2000, DJ Mind-X was sort of Switzerland's Judge Jules, not least because he shared many of the London DJ's popular and patronizing qualities. System F's "Exhale" bangs off the set, a signal of intent to punch through crowd favorites, and DJ Mind-X brings it to some persistent, hard tech in the first half (Harenbrook, Luna System) and sort of floodlit would-be-Cream anthems in the second (Moontrap, Dave 202 & Phil Green), topped off with the squelchy, anxious "Audience" by the non-Frischmann-related Elastica. It's an arc often used by Jules, but for some reason, perhaps only after one puts it up against 2001's more frowzy progressive sound that had diverted so many big-name trance DJs that year, its blithe lack of mob-pleasing shame is cool and harmless. ~ Dean Carlson, All Music Guide
