Strike at the Steel Works

  • Release Year: 1915
  • Run Time: 3rl minutes

Plot

The title tells all in this three-reel "labor vs. management" opus. A bunch of steel workers are thrown out of work when the owner installs new machinery. This nearly puts the kibosh on the romance between a young laid-off worker and his sweetheart. The ensuring strike by the still-employed workers causes no end of trouble on both sides of the conflict, but eventually things are resolved to everyone's satisfaction. The Variety reviewer was reasonably impressed by the film's production values, and was particularly taken by the numerous close-ups of factory machinery in operation. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
