Review

The landscape of the pop standard is changing, and there is no clearer signal than the bowed reverie of "Dream On" that begins String Quartet Tribute to Aerosmith. That tune and eight other gems from the Aerosmith canon are given new interpretations here by the Da Capo Players and the Czech Quartet of Prague. Some of it works, mostly more recent Aerosmith like "Angel" and "Janie's Got a Gun" where the melody is more developed. Other songs, like hard rock gems "Toys in the Attic" and "Draw the Line," just sound busy and confused, but the cheekiness of it all saves even these muddled moments. And it's that sort of cheesy inside humor that carries the new wave of pop classical crossover albums -- that and an understanding that more people now know the melody to "Rag Doll" than to "Ebb Tide." ~ Wade Kergan, All Music Guide
