Struttin' at the World's Fair

Album Review: Struttin' at the World's Fair

Review

The final Dukes of Dixieland Columbia album features the group in excellent form on a variety of material, some of which is unlikely. With trumpeter/vocalist Frank Assunto, trombonist Fred Assunto and clarinetist Jerry Fuller forming a very impressive frontline, and pianist Gene Schroeder, banjoist Jac Assunto, bassist Red Brown and either Barrett Deems or Nick Fatool on drums, the music consistently swings in a joyful fashion. Highlights include "Colonel Bogey March," "Swingin' Sousa," "The Dukes Come Marching Home" and "Paducah Parade." Unfortunately, this album has yet to be reissued on CD. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
