Biography
British director Stuart Burge originally trained to be a civil engineer. In the 1940s, he began acting in British theater and by 1948 had become a director. During his career, Burge helmed many distinguished productions for both stage and television. In the 1960s, he made four film adaptations of plays including There Was a Crooked Man (1960) and Othello (1965) starring Laurence Olivier. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
