A Lease from a Lessee to another lessee. The new lessee is a sublessee or subtenant. See Sandwich Lease.
Example: Acme, Inc., leases office space under a 10-year lease. Acme wishes to relocate but cannot break the lease. With the landlord's permission, Acme finds a subtenant, Medcorp, to sign a sublease for the space. Medcorp pays rent to Acme, which, in turn, continues to pay rent to the landlord.
