Game Description

Subroc is the home version of Sega's Subroc-3D from 1982, but lacks the periscope peripheral of the arcade original, eliminating the 3D effect. This translation is a reasonably well-made port of the flashy, but ultimately dull coin-muncher, but effectively translates the dynamic explosions and day-to-night scenes.

Roots & Influences

Subroc is the home version of Sega's Subroc 3D game from 1982. Subroc 3D was modeled after earlier submarine style games in which the player targets enemies through a periscope-like eyepiece. The title of the game is an acronym for "Submarine-Rocket."
