Biography

After fronting the seminal Brit-pop duo of the Vaselines for a number of years, guitarist Frances McKee moved on in 1997 to start Suckle. Along with co-founder/vocalist Marie McKee, the complete lineup of Vicky Morton (bass), Elanor Taylor (flute/keyboards), Kenny McEwan (drums), and Brian McEwan (guitar) settled in later that year before the release of their self-titled debut EP. As they brought on a harmony of melancholy indie pop to their native of Scotland, Detox Records followed their first 7" with the Hormonal Secretions EP that same year. By 1998, Suckle signed on to Chemikal Underground Records who eventually funded their first self-titled full-length. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
