Sugar-and-Water Day

Two of the names for a widespread children's custom which entailed visiting a particular well or spring and mixing the water with sugar or sweets to make a special drink, on a particular day of the year. The day, the name, and the other details vary from place to place. See ASCENSION DAY, EASTER, ELECAMPANE, SPANISH SUNDAY.
