Sun

The Sun plays an important role in Asian mythology, especially in Japanese Shinto (See Shinto entries) mythology, where the dominant deity is the sun goddess Amaterasu (See Amaterasu). The Chinese yellow emperor, Huangdi (See Huangdi) is sometimes associated with the Sun, and in India one of the primary ādityas (See Aditi and the Ādityas), who are the Vedic (See Vedic entries) ruling forces of the Universe and themselves associated with the sun, is the Sun himself, the god Sūrya (See Sūrya). The svastika (See svastika) is a Hindu (See Hinduism entries) symbol of the sun.
