Cathy Guisewite Gets an Emmy, 1987 |
What are the four major guilt groups according to the comic strip 'Cathy'? Cathy has said that the four major guilt groups are food, love, career and mothers. Cathy's creator, Cathy Guisewite, celebrates her birthday today. In August 2010, she announced that the final Cathy strip would run in newspapers on October 3, 2010. According to an AP article, after producing the comic strip for 34 years, Guisewite wants to channel her creativity elsewhere. She also looks forward to spending more time with her family. Cathy's story line was often based on events and mishaps in Guisewite's own life. She has said that the relationship between comic strip Cathy and her mother is taken straight from Guisewite's relationship with her own mother. Comic strip Cathy's mother always had a current copy of Bride magazine in her purse; Guisewite's mother began collecting wedding silver for her daughter when Guisewite was just a baby.
"Every time I get something under control in my own life, the world provides more material." — Cathy Guisewite
