Music video

The music video of the song takes place in the year 1964 and features a United States Air Force pilot flying a British-made Hawker Hunter fighter plane named the Bird of Prey. It opens with the famous "Daisy" television commercial, which was used as a campaign for president Johnson during this year, showing the pilot sitting in a room watching this commercial. He drinks a glass of water which has something bubbling in it, intercut with an image of a brain and a piece of paper with text describing a chemical. An identification form with Fatboy Slim's real name on it, (Colonel) "Norman Cook" is seen. He flies the plane as he is coming on to the drug, and he eventually ejects and parachutes down. The actual song is playing during the flight sequence.

The pilot ends up on the floor beside the plane, which somehow ends up back in the hangar, if it ever in fact left. He is helped up by Military Police. He says "It's wonderful... it's important that you understand..." He's then back in the room, watching the commercial, and tripping out watching his hands. There are some quick edits of Classified and Top Secret documents, Central Intelligence Agency and OSS logos, and finally, if the viewer hasn't yet realized that the pilot has been dosed, probably with LSD or Speed , a reference to Project MKULTRA. A similar ID form, but this time the name on the form is (Major) Al Hubbard is then seen. It closes with the "Daisy" commercial again, zooming in on the eye of the little girl as she counts down and ends on "One".

This video is probably a representation of the supposed "drugging up" of US pilots during the Vietnamese war. This was supposedly an attempt to desensitize pilots during bombings as well as keeping them awake during long missions.

Filming

The filming took place at Duxford Aerodrome, and was produced by Flight Logistics of Borehamwood, who used a Aérospatiale Corvette to film the airborne scenes from.[2] The Hawker Hunter was in a USAF livery.[3]
