Overheating due to direct exposure of the head and back of the neck to the sun's rays. Symptoms include red skin, a swollen face, buzzing in the ears, dizziness, nausea, increased pulse rate, and rapid breathing. If overheating persists it can become very dangerous (see heat stroke). Sunstroke is quite common in people exercising outdoors for long periods; tennis players, walkers, and golfers are particularly susceptible. If you suffer from sunstroke, you should stop exercising, rest in the shade, and loosen your clothing. You should try to keep cool by fanning air over yourself, and apply cool water to your forehead and the back of your neck.
