Plot
In this adolescent adventure-comedy, an angry nerd tires of being teased by cruel surfers who play a dirty trick upon him and spike his soda pop with enough female hormones to make him grow miniature breasts. Menlo Schwartzer gets his revenge by spiking their favorite drink, Buzz Cola, with a drink that turns them into zombies with a taste for garbage who will obey his every command. He makes about six of these zombie surfers and uses them to win a big competition. The title is supposed to be a joke. There is no Surf 1. Get it? ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
Review
This oddball teen comedy attempts to mix Airplane!-styled satire of 1960's beach comedy, 1970's horror film cliches and 1980's teen-comedy hijinks into a single package. The end product can't exactly be called a success but is deranged enough to be memorable. Writer/director Randall Badat's tale is too overloaded with characters and ideas and too short on craftsmanship to pull off its ambitious aims but it is never dull. A few gags shine through the gross-out hijinks (the best is a memorable bit where two families have the same conversation in stereo in the same duplex) and the whole shebang is prodded along by a non-stop soundtrack of vintage pop hits by groups like Split Enz, the Stray Cats and the Beach Boys. However, the key attribute of Surf 2 is its cast. The young leads are surprisingly skilled for such a low budget venture: Eddie Deezen supplies plenty of amusing Jerry Lewis-styled wackiness as Menlo, lesser-known b-movie starlet Linda Kerridge deftly underplays her unwitting femme fatale role with some sly wit and lead surfer Eric Stoltz shows off the charm he would soon realize in bigger-budgeted fare. Also, b-movie fanatics will have a field day with the supporting cast, which is crammed to bursting with such unusual but welcome choices as Cleavon Little, Ruth Buzzi and Lyle Waggoner. To sum up, Surf 2's unbalanced mix of amateurishness and gonzo humor will confound most viewers but fans of b-movie weirdness will find more than enough memorable moments to keep themselves entertained. ~ Donald Guarisco, All Movie Guide

Surf II (full title: Surf II: The End of the Trilogy) is a 1984comedy film written and directed by Randall M. Badat. Despite what the title implies, there was no "Surf I". For a while, the film was advertised with the title "Surf II: The Nerds Strike Back" in an attempt to cash in on the success of Revenge of the Nerds that same year. It was filmed in parts of Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Santa Cruz.
Written as a campy send-up of 1960s beach party films and 1970s monster movies, the plot of Surf II follows the maniacal nerd Menlo Schwartzer, who plans to rid the world's beaches of his biggest enemies: surfers. With the reluctant help of his beautiful girlfriend Sparkle, Menlo concocts a chemical potion that can turn people into mutated, garbage-eating zombies and markets it to the surfers under the name 'Buzz Cola'.
After several teenagers fall victim to Menlo's beverage, two surfers, with the help of their girlfriends and eccentric science teacher, are determined to bring Menlo's reign of terror to an end and still have time to compete in the big surf contest.
Critical response
Reviews of the film were ultimately negative. Leonard Maltin gave the film 1 1/2 stars, claiming "it's only best joke is in the title", while Videohound called it "an exercise in mental melt-down".
Release
Surf II has yet to be released on DVD officially in the USA and Canada, possibly due to rights over the soundtrack. The only country where it has been released on DVD is Italy[1] formatted as a Region 2PAL DVD and as a result, bootleg DVD copies of the film have been sold in the USA. VHS tapes have sold on eBay for prices upwards of $30.
