Biography

Actress Susan Flannery became a well-known name in television through no shortage of hard work. She played Dr. Laura Spencer Horton on Days of Our Lives from 1966 until 1975, gradually building up her fame and credibility until she had the recognition to score roles in major films, like 1974's The Towering Inferno. She also played Stephanie Douglas Forrester on the popular TV show Dallas during its third season, and became an original cast member of the soap The Bold and the Beautiful beginning in 1987, where she began testing her skills behind the camera, directing several episodes. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide

Susan Flannery (born July 31, 1939) is a Golden Globe- and four time Daytime Emmy Award-winning American soap opera actress. She is perhaps best known for portraying Stephanie Forrester on the CBS Daytime soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful.

Career

Flannery is known for playing Dr. Laura Spencer Horton on Days of our Lives from 1966 until 1975 where she met writer and daytime legend William J. Bell. She appeared in the 1974 film The Towering Inferno and the '76 film The Gumball Rally. She also appeared on the primetime television series Dallas as Leslie Stewart during season four (1980-1981) as well as opposite Kirk Douglas in The Moneychangers. She has also worked alongside Micheal Jaffe as a producer.

Today, Flannery is known worldwide for portraying Stephanie Douglas Forrester on the American soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. She is one of four original cast members still appearing on the series, along with Katherine Kelly Lang, John McCook and Ronn Moss. Flannery is also a regular director on the show, and has twice been nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award for her work.

Susan appeared in two episodes of ABC's sitcom, Hope & Faith in 2004. She appeared with other well-known actors from rival soaps, and appeared as a special guest in Good News Week.

She also appeared in a special episode of Wheel of Fortune with Deidre Hall (Marlena, DAYS) and Peter Bergman (Jack, Y&R) in 2006.

She directed the October 13, 2008 episode of Guiding Light.

She has taken an active role in the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) in securing cable rights and foreign residuals for actors when their work appears in other mediums. Her efforts have had a positive impact on how Bold and The Beautiful actors are paid when the show is televised in countries outside the United States.[3]

Personal life

Flannery was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and went to school in Manhattan. [4]. She has a daughter named Blaise, born in the mid 1980s. Flannery's interests include sailing, flying, cooking dinner for friends and traveling. She currently lives in Santa Barbara, California[citation needed]
