Veterinary Dictionary: sway response

Clinical test in which the animal is pulled laterally by the tail or pushed sideways on the rump while it is walking. Absence of the normal response, a resistance to being swayed or a smart sidestep to save from falling, is taken as indicating that normal balancing reflexes are not functioning.
