Swedish Goggles are a classic and popular pair of swimming goggles worn by many competitive swimmers. They are produced by Malmsten, a swedish company, hence the name, and were first designed in the 1970s. The most notable feature of these goggles is their low price, usually around $5.00 or less, and lack of a gasket or seal around the eye cup, as found on most other goggles. They come in various colors including clear, black, blue, green, red, amber, and pink. These goggles are also available with metallic or mirrored lenses, but these usually cost more than the regular version (up to $15.00).
Swedish goggles can only be purchased unassembled, giving users extreme flexibility in design and fit. Each each goggle set comes with two eye cups, one long (around 36") latex rubber strip (long enough to be a double head strap), and one piece of string and plastic or rubber tubing for a nose piece.
There are many variations in goggle assembly, i.e. some people choose to use only a single head strap, some choose to cut a small piece of latex from the head strap and use that instead of the string nose piece.
