Biography

The duo Swoon is comprised of Hood and Flanj, two musicians who have collectively and individually done stints with Wait for Nothing and a number of other projects. Flanj, who plays the role of bandleader in Swoon, considers 2" Crucible to be his primary undertaking. An expatriate New Zealander, Flanj began programming and remixing in 1995. Hood kept himself busy weaving guitarscapes for a number of mixes while working as a remix engineer in the Los Angeles and Amsterdam techno-dance scenes. Swoon's drumming guest on Milk is a Mr. B. Most often going by the name of Bobby Breton, Swoon's Mr. B. was once the drummer for Wait for Nothing. Flanj and Hood, who integrate a common fascination with vintage film into the Swoon sound, are also interested in noir literature and existentialist reflexivity. By fusing these extra-musical fancies with their mutual predilection for electronica, guitar ambience, and loose acoustic drumbeats, Swoon produces sounds that stimulate as much as they soothe. ~ John Vallier, All Music Guide
