Sylvie Tardif
Sylvie Tardif is a politician from Quebec, Canada and a current Councilmember in Trois-Rivières. [1]
Background
She is a sociologist. Before she entered politics, Tardif was already well-known in the Trois-Rivières area. In 1986, she helped creating the Centre d'organisation mauricien de services et d'éducation populaire (COMSEP), a local non-profit organization that helps alleviate poverty and illiteracy.
Councilmember
In 2003 she won a by-election with 76% of the vote, without the blessing of Trois-Rivières Mayor Yves Lévesque. She succeeded Daniel Perrault and became City Councillor of the district of Marie-de-l'Incarnation. [2] She re-elected with 88% of the vote in 2005.
Offers for Higher Office
Because of her credentials, Sylvie Tardif has often been considered as a potentiel candidate by left-wing political parties both at the federal and provincial level. [3] She also has been mentioned as a possible candidate for Mayor of Trois-Rivières. [4] So far, she has turned down any such proposals.
