Biography

One of the first signings to Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich's Music Company label, California's Systematic appeared with a high-profile stamp of approval. The melodic metal quartet began with singer/guitarist Tim Narducci and guitarist Adam Ruppel in 1996, when the pair began writing together and cobbling together their initial demo. Adding former Pro-Pain guitarist Nick St. Denis on bass and drummer Shaun Bannon the following year, a new demo caught the ear of Ulrich, who soon offered Systematic a record contract. Somewhere in Between was issued in 2001 and was followed by touring slots on the Ozzfest and Tattoo the Earth festival tours. The tolls of touring led the band to a new rhythm section with Johnny Bechtel on bass and former Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph on drums. The new lineup released an Internet-only version of Blue Öyster Cult's "Career of Evil" as a teaser for their next album, 2003's Pleasure to Burn. ~ Wade Kergan, All Music Guide

Systematic was a rock band from San Jose, California.

The band was one of the first signings to Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich's record label, The Music Company (via Elektra Records). Their first album Somewhere in Between came out in 2001 and reached #143 in Billboard album chart. Systematic toured with Ozzfest the same year. Also, the band appeared in the HBO live concert TV show "Reverb" alongside Papa Roach and Beautiful Creatures. During the music video shoot for the song "Deep Colors Bleed", drummer Shaun Bannon injured his arm, forcing him to step down from his duties behind the kit. After a few temporary fill-in drummers, former Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph joined the band in 2002. Somewhere in this time period, Nick St. Denis also left the band, due to his desire to play the guitar in a band instead of bass. Bassit Johnny Bechtel filled the void left by St. Denis, and the group went into the studio to record the follow-up to Somewhere in Between. Pleasure to Burn was released in 2003, and the band embarked on the Jagermeister Music Tour along with Stereomud, Hed PE, Breaking Benjamin, and Saliva, as well as other tours. Paul Bostaph left the band in 2004, and former drummer Shaun Bannon rejoined the band, having healed from his injuries. He wasn't in the group for long, however, as the band broke up in 2004. Vocalist Tim Narducci is now in the band Spiralarms. Nick St. Denis plays in RAZE the STRAY with Skinlab founder Mike Roberts and Subincision bassist Rik Miles.
