Biography

This stylish and innovative trio formed in the mid-'80s when childhood friends Eric Valentine (drums) and Dan Arlie (bass) met guitarist Jeff Tyson and built a studio in Arlie's garage. Tyson studied guitar (at the same time as Testament's Alex Skolnick) from fabled guitar guru Joe Satriani while Valentine honed his producing chops on Arlie's vocals for the demo that won T-Ride a Hollywood contract. The label pushed for big-name producers, including Eddie Kramer, who told T-Ride to stick with their resident expert, Valentine. Their brilliant, self-titled debut showcased sterling songcraft with traditionalist metal tendencies and advanced technological renderings. But T-Ride, one of the greatest hair metal records ever, with incredible tracks like "Luxury Cruiser" (also on the Encino Man soundtrack) and "You and Your Friend," disappeared upon release. Valentine naturally became a very active producer, working with Smash Mouth, Counting Crows, Third Eye Blind, the Dwarves, and many others. ~ Doug Stone, All Music Guide

T-Ride was a California-based heavy metal band whose only album shared the same title. Noted for its wildly complex instrument and vocal arrangements.

Steve Ouimette was one of the first guitarist to try out for the band. Steve, and later Geoff, would play just a couple of the faster guitar parts on the album. Almost all the other guitar parts were played by Eric Valentine. All the other additional instruments on the album were played by Eric. Geoff was hired as a guitar player for the tour. There was a second album that was started but will never be finished or released since the band broke up.

Songs from the album were used in various motion pictures and television shows including "Luxury Cruiser" in the soundtrack of 1992's Encino Man, "Zombies from Hell" in the movie "Captain Ron" and "Bone Down" in an episode of Baywatch, "Forbidden Paradise-part 2".

Drummer/producer Eric Valentine went on to became a multi-platinum selling producer, producing acts like Smash Mouth, Queens of the Stone Age, Third Eye Blind, LostProphets, Good Charlotte, Nickel Creek, John Fogerty, All American Rejects, Slash and more.
