T-Rio are triplet sisters Thaina, Thaisa and Thayana (b. 1984-11-10 in Brasilia, Brazil).
Since they were young, these siblings immersed themselves in the worlds of classical ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, and theatre. They credit most of their accomplishments to their parents, whose own musical talents influenced their love for singing and passion for performing since the time they were young. Their lives have always been filled with music.
Motivated by the same destiny, these triplets began their professional career at 14 in one of the most recognized theatre companies in Brasilia/Brazil. The public took to them immediately, and their performing quickly led them from their home town to Campinas,(SP) where they were hired by the pop group "Sandy & Junior", who shared a phenomenal and unequaled success in Brazil. Thaisa, Thaina and Thayana then settled in the cultural city of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, where they began writing their own lyrics and doing their first performances as a music group.
In 2003, Thaisa, Thaina, and Thayana were chosen to be part of a musical in Paris, and quickly fell in love with its incredible mix of cultures and music. In 2004 they were signed by Sony/BMG where their music group was officially formed under the name T-Rio.
Their first single, "Choopeta - Mamae Eu Quero", was originally a folk song from Brazil, immortalized by legendary performer Carmen Miranda in 1939, and was remade by T-Rio with a brand new interpretation.
"Choopeta" quickly rose to become the number 1 song in France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Romenia, Marroco, Thailand, Philippines, Canada, and more.
The subsequent release of their album "Choopeta - Mamae Eu Quero", a wonderful mixture of beautiful covers from their native Brazilian culture, achieved even greater success. Selling nearly 2 million copies worldwide, the album was number 5 in sales for Europe and received Gold Awards in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, Thailand, Canada and other countries.
Currently, T-Rio is working between Los Angeles and Paris on their next album, due in 2008. It highlights a more international perspective with original songs both written and co-written by T-Rio.
