Tāy̆getē

Tāy̆getē, one of the Pleiads, the nymph of the high range of mountains named after her in the Peloponnese, west of Sparta. The goddess Artemis turned her into a doe to escape the attentions of Zeus, but by him she became the mother of Lacedaemon, eponymous ancestor of the Lacedaemonians.
