Tailwind Airlines is a joint Turkish and British partnership. It was established to create an efficient, modern and quality airline service in the civil aviation sector to support the growth of air travel to and from Turkey. Tailwind's core team is made up of experienced and knowledgeable professionals from the aviation industry who will provide a strong foundation to achieve this objective.
Tailwind Airlines is providing wet-lease operation with three Boeing 737-400 airplane from Atatürk airport in Istanbul, Turkey. Registration TC-TLA, TC-TLB, TC-TLC.
Initially Tailwind Airlines is flying Charter flights from Istanbul, Antalya, Bodrum, and other touristic cities in Turkey mainly to European destinations, Tel Aviv, Israel and Tehran, Iran. First commercial flight was performed successful in May 2009.
Fleet
The Tailwind Airlines fleet consists of the following aircraft (as of 1 July 2009) [1]:
- 3 Boeing 737-400s (+2 on order)
As of 1 July 2009, the average age of the Tailwind Airlines fleet is 15.4 years. ([2])
The airplanes have previously operated for Alaska Airlines, and are equipped with many extra functions. Among them 2 FMS, GPS and HUD (head-up display).
